Maximize the
Competitive Advantage: Winning Work/Life
Strategies for Business was the theme for the
all-day conference held on May 10th at the American
Airlines Training & Conference Center. Approximately
165 attendees from 81 organizations of all sizes and
industries participated in this year’s event.
Donna Klein, Vice
President of Diversity and Workplace Effectiveness for
Marriott International in Washington, D.C., kicked off
the conference as the keynote speaker. A nationally
known authority on work/life issues, Mrs. Klein expertly
engaged the audience with a historical account of
work/life initiatives over the past 150 years, as well
as enlightened participants about where the work/life
field is headed and why. To view her keynote speech in
its entirety, please click here.
Following the keynote
address, 32 experts from dozens of local, blue-ribbon

Packard, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst & Young, City of Fort
Worth, American Airlines, U.S. Department of

leave the workforce, employee friendly policies and
legislation, workplace flexibility, elder care at work,
communication strategy, post 9/11 employment issues,
developing synergies to affect change, paving new roads
in child care, and how to develop grass-roots successes.
